The new track from Scaler, ‘Evolve’, features Bristol-based multidisciplinary artist Tlya X An on vocals. Her presence and airy, luscious voice lead this track in the most accessible, melodic direction Scaler have ever been. Despite that, it is still full of their trademark experimentalism. There’s a trip hoppiness to the whole thing, with a nod toward nu-metal coming from both the composition and the vocal delivery, but most notable influence comes from industrial music, which gives the whole track a warped, metallic sonic palette to play with. The low rumble of bass sets things slightly on edge from the track’s opening moments, before spiky held synth notes add their own layer of tension which is played off against the crunch of the twisted electronic drum kit. This is the final single to be lifted from the band’s upcoming album, Endlessly, which drops on September 26th, 2025, via Black Acre. -Dan Peeke
